Balconagar, 15th April 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, has deployed **ALAISA** (Aluminium AI Support Agent), a first-of-its-kind humanoid, AI-powered assistant designed to enhance shop-floor capability, operational efficiency, and industrial safety.
Currently operational at BALCO’s smelter complex in Chhattisgarh, ALAISA functions as an on-ground training and decision-support interface. The system integrates conversational AI with plant-specific operational intelligence to deliver real-time guidance on **Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)** and critical safety protocols directly at the point of operation.
Speaking on the development, **Rajesh Kumar, CEO & Director, BALCO**, said, “The introduction of ALAISA reflects our commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to strengthen operational excellence. By enabling real-time learning and process guidance, such technologies empower our teams to perform with greater confidence and efficiency.”
0 Key Highlights of ALAISA:
Real-time Training:
Over 100 employees have already been trained through structured learning modules and live query resolution.
Safety First:
Provides immediate access to Standard Maintenance Practices (SMPs), reducing the risk of industrial accidents.
Skill Assessment: Features built-in evaluations that allow supervisors to monitor skill progression and standardise processes.
Technological Milestone:This deployment positions BALCO among the early adopters of humanoid AI systems in the global metals sector.
Uday Chauhan, PGT at BALCO, shared his experience: “Before beginning my work at the potline, I underwent safety training through ALAISA. Despite being a robot, the training was as effective as that delivered by a human trainer.”
ALAISA is a significant part of BALCO’s broader digital transformation, which includes Digital Smelter technologies and advanced analytics across the supply chain, cast house, and carbon facilities to ensure world-class product quality and workforce safety.
