Marking a major milestone in central India’s healthcare landscape, the BALCO Medical Centre (BMC) is gearing up to host the 4th edition of the annual BMC Chhattisgarh Cancer Conclave. Scheduled from 18th to 20th September 2026 at the Mayfair Lake Resorts, Naya Raipur, the three-day mega event will also feature the 7th meeting of Choosing Wisely India, held in collaboration with ecancer, Tata Memorial Centre (Mumbai), and the National Cancer Grid.

This year’s conclave revolves around the crucial theme, ‘Restoring Balance to Cancer Care’. The scientific sessions will place special emphasis on breast, gynecological, and genitourinary cancers. Discussions will explore critical issues such as choosing optimal treatment pathways, avoiding unnecessary medical interventions, actively involving patients in care decisions, and seamlessly integrating global medical evidence into everyday oncology practice in India.
Dr. Bhawna Sirohi, Medical Director of the Vedanta Medical Research Foundation, emphasized the importance of bringing world-class expertise closer to home. She noted that platforms like this allow regional oncologists to exchange invaluable knowledge with global leaders, thereby strengthening local healthcare capabilities. As part of its commitment to nurturing future talent, BMC is providing travel bursaries to 50 young doctors nationwide to attend and learn from top experts.

The high-profile event will witness the convergence of 11 international faculty members—hailing from the UK, USA, UAE, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Israel, Belgium, Canada, and Switzerland—alongside over 200 national and regional cancer specialists.
Advanced Workshops & Live Surgery: The packed itinerary features over 20 panel discussions, debates, and live breast cancer surgical demonstrations. First-of-its-kind hands-on workshops will cover interstitial brachytherapy, clinical trial development, germline genetics, oncopathology, artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, and next-gen nuclear medicine.
Special Forums: The event will host a Women for Oncology (W4O India) networking and mentorship meeting to empower and connect female oncology professionals.
Art for a Cause: Alongside academics, BMC will organize ‘Canvas for ‘A’ Life’, an art and heritage exhibition supporting the BMC Charitable Fund, which provides financial, diagnostic, and logistical assistance to underprivileged cancer patients.
