The event, organized by Mithwa Sankalp Samithi with support from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, saw over 300 participants from eight states. BALCO’s security team members turned into star athletes, clinching top spots in track events:
Ayesha (Security Guard) secured 1st Place in the 400m race.
Kuleshwar (Security Guard) finished as 2nd Runner-up in the 100m sprint.
Alka Nagarwade (Security Guard) bagged 3rd Place in the grueling 800m event.
0 “Beyond Labels”: Voices of the Champions
For the winners, the victory was about more than just medals—it was about identity.
”Sports is about visibility and belonging. Stepping onto the track allowed me to see myself beyond labels,” said Ayesha, the gold medalist.
Alka Nagarwade, who displayed immense resilience in the 800m race, credited the workplace culture for her self-esteem. “The encouragement to practice and perform has built a stronger sense of self-worth in me,” she shared.
Fostering a Culture of Inclusion
These achievements highlight BALCO’s commitment to a “people-centric” approach. By integrating transgender employees into mainstream activities—from the BALCO Premier League (BPL) to national athletics—the organization is moving beyond mere policy-making toward true social integration.
Kuleshwar noted that internal tournaments like the BPL create a “safe and encouraging space” where teamwork takes precedence over gender identity.
0 The Road Ahead

The success of these three athletes serves as a beacon of hope for the local community. It underscores a shifting workplace culture in Korba, where diversity is not just accepted but celebrated. By supporting such platforms, BALCO continues to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, can pursue their potential with dignity and pride.
